Happy birthday, my sweet little Bro

Hello everyone,

I am so happy to connect with all the art enthusiasts. This is my first blog. I have recently started art journaling. This particular page is dedicated to my younger brother who had his birthday this week. No matter how old he gets, he is always going to be my little brother, isnt he? And showering him with presents is not gonna stop. Every year I try to gift him something new, something different, be it a handmade or a purchased birthday card, one of the gadgets he seeks (out of a long list) or even a small letter. This year, however, my newfound passion of making art journal pages took over me and I decided to make one especially for him. Well, I was a bit late in doing this but the thought and efforts count, right?

I wanted this page to represent some of the memories we have shared right from his birth. In fact I was overwhelmed with them. So instead I decided to pick just one of them, the one that came to my mind instantly- the first time I rode my bicycle with him sitting on the back seat laughing blissfully. (Now he drives a car and usually I am the one who enjoys the free ride 😉 ).

As I have recently started with this journey, I don’t have a lot of art supplies. I don’t own any stamps. I printed out my sentiment and some random book text and created a background. Then I painted with a few different acrylic colors and stuck the pictures (baby and kids on bicycle).

As for the sentiment, I wanted to emphasize what it means to have him in our family. I always tease him that we were a “happy family of three” before he came along. Nonetheless, I have always believed that when he joined our little world, we were complete too.

To illustrate our family, I did some finger prints on a page and pasted them here. I have given an accessory to each of them describing the characters.

For final touches, I used fineliners, PITT artist pens and brush pens for highlighting and shading. Additionally, I have used white gel pen for further detailing and some white splashes to bring it all together.

Here is the final result:

Naturally I was thinking of my brother the whole time I was working on this. I even started a Harry Potter movie marathon side by side. It all transported me to our childhood. In that case, do I need to mention separately that I had fun making this? Oh, you can imagine!

Thanks a lot for visiting. Looking forward to new inspirations,

Asawari
